UrbanEx's passion is to empower students and adults to process life in healthier ways and to begin to understand and embrace themselves and those around them, intentionally and effectively. UrbanEx engages with students by speaking to community youth groups, public and private school classrooms, universities, and in auditorium assemblies, while engaging with adults in corporate sessions, faith-based gatherings, etc.
Here are some subjects we cover during such speaking engagements:
- We give people permission to be who they really are; affirming and encouraging their unique talents and dreams and helping them appreciate the uniqueness in each other.
- We facilitate discussions to help people process their questions about life and their personal circumstances, helping them find practical ways to process on their own and tangible solutions they can apply immediately.
- We share our own personal stories and stories of those we advocate for, which enables people to open their eyes to consider new perspectives, disable their prejudices, and be more understanding of themselves and those around them, whether in their schools, homes, community, or world.
- We talk about what fears/prejudices are and how they can hinder embracing people in our communities simply because people may not like, understand, or are even afraid of others based on differences in lifestyle, beliefs, race, social status, handicaps, culture, etc.
- We address a variety of topics such as various forms of abuse, homelessness, borderline homelessness, addictions, suicide, etc. which always leads to deep discussions whereby the participants get to discuss what they feel are the solutions!

- We ask people if they could make effective change in their world right now what issue would they champion and why. Students usually articulate their heart in such impassioned ways that it surprises their peers and teachers. This exercise usually creates a bond of respect between teacher and students, management and employees, and parent and child.
- We close each session with an artistic hands-on processing exercise which participants then share and explain to the group.
(After these engagements, students and adults usually want to further their experience by signing up for our week-long Excursions which are intensive life-transforming experiences that have a life-long impact on themselves and how they occur in their communities as individuals, families, employees, and more impassioned volunteers.)
